I was the technical director on this project overseeing the simulation and render pipeline as well as developing a large toolset for the simulation look development.
We were recognized for several awards for this project including: D&AD, ADC Awards, and Cannes Lions
In collaboration with Pomp & Clout and Saad Moosajee.
This was an ambitious project for me and Saad. All of the animation was created using motion capture and Unreal Engine, the shots were built in both C4D and Houdini, and they were rendered with Arnold.
We had to make several tools to facilitate rendering Houdini crowds in C4D as well as rendering large volumes in Arnold that finished within our lifetime.
Since Arnold lacks light instancing I made a tool that creates lights that can be copied to geometry in Houdini using the normal Houdini instancing attributes.
The crowd LOD system from “Last I Heard” was improved for both the angels and dancers.
Aside from the technical hurdles we also made this project during the pandemic and record breaking heat + fires in California.
In collaboration with Art Camp and Saad Moosajee.
I worked as the technical director and simulation artist on this project. I was responsible for all of the crowd and pyro simulations, pipeline development, and various other Houdini based animations. For this project I developed several new Houdini HDAs for Slack, FFMPEG and the crowds systems.
Interviews with SideFX and VFX Voice magazine coming soon!
In collaboration with Art Camp and Saad Moosajee.
I worked as the technical director on this project. I helped out with various pipeline tasks and Houdini simulations.
For a more technical overview, check out our interview with SideFX!
In collaboration with Joshua Davis and Saad Moosajee.
I was the technical director on this project, but I worked on many aspects including pipeline, procedural geometry, animation, visual effects, and design.
My senior project at Penn was a interdisciplinary exploration of visualizing the connectivity of the brain.
My mentors for the project were Danielle Bassett and Scott White
Renderings could be seen in Science Magazine and are used by Dr. Bassett for presentation purposes.
